“The largest working fish market in the southern hemisphere”[i], the Sydney Fish Market is a seafood-lover’s dream!  Its site provides locals and visitors to the market with six different seafood retailers, a sushi bar, bakery, butcher, gourmet deli, green grocer, bottle shop, restaurants and gift shop.[ii]

  • This market is the third largest seafood market (in terms of VARIETY) in the world[iii]

  • It sources its products from a combination of individual fishermen, co-ops, fishing businesses and aquaculture farms in Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific Region[iv]

  • 100+ species of seafood are available to consumers daily[v]

  • Up to 100 different sustainable seafood species are traded everyday

  • Approximately 500 different sustainable species are traded annually[vi]

Sashimi-grade fish extraordinaire!  Immaculate!

 

While I am personally not overly adventurous with seafood (my faves being wild-caught fatty fish, scallops, crab and lobster), I can certainly appreciate the wide variety available at this market, particularly the creatures I had never seen of or heard of before; what an eye-opening experience!
