Berry 'n Beet Stress-Busting Smoothie!
That COLOUR though! This might just be my favourite colour of all time!
As you may or may not already know, I am a HUGE FAN of Four Sigmatic and everything they do!
Their high-quality spectrum of products have taught me so much, and are a pantry staple of mine!
I learned about this Californian company while in culinary school, shortly after I learned about therapeutic mushrooms of new sorts: reishi, chaga, lion's mane, cordyceps, turkey tail, etc.!
At the time, these mushroom varieties were all-new territory for me. Now, they are a regular part of my day-to-day, given the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive properties they possess.
Culinary school was also the time at which I started to learn about adaptogens - natural herbs that support the adrenal glands - small, mighty glands that sit atop our kidneys, responsible for the secretion of our stress hormone, cortisol.
Adaptogens help support the body in combatting our stressors, and hopefully we are keeping our stressors within a manageable range, to begin with.
Such adaptogenic herbs include: Ashwagandha, Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng), Holy Basil (aka 'Tulsi'), Maca, Moringa, Rhodiola and Schisandra.

My first experimentation with this natural supplementation product resulted in the following, nourishing smoothie! Beyond the stress-supportive and immune-supportive qualities of the adaptogenic extracts and mushroom extracts, I've also created a liver-supportive smoothie here, with the incorporation of mixed field greens and beets. Bitter, dark/leafy greens and beets are supportive of liver detoxification, and the berries and hibiscus powder offer a punch of antioxidant vitamin C, too!
Berry 'n Beet Stress-Busting Smoothie
Yield: ~ 2 cups
1.5 cups oat milk (or nut/seed milk of choice)
2 cups (handfuls) of mixed field greens
1 cup (frozen) sliced beets
1 cup (frozen) mixed berries
3 tbsp. hemp hearts
1 tsp. hibiscus powder
1. Combine the milk and greens in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
3. Pour into a mason jar and enjoy!
