My Latest Tea Obsession: Licorice Root Tea!

Organic Licorice Root tea is my latest tea obsession! It is incredible calming, with a smooth, sweet flavour and a list of ingredients that can't possibly disappoint! I love this tea at any time of day, but particularly in the evening, a few hours after dinner.

“Yogi” brand tea (out of Springfield Oregon), produces a number of different teas, including Egyptian Licorice Tea. According to the packaging, it is:

  • 97% organic ingredients

  • caffeine free

  • Organic Licorice Root

  • Organic Cinnamon Bark

  • Organic Orange Peel

  • Organic Ginger Root

  • Cardamom Seed

  • Natural Tangerine Flavour

  • Organic Black Pepper

  • Organic Clove Bud

  • Natural Cinnamon Bark Oil

How does that sound?!

Some Key Health Benefits:

  • Along with ginger, licorice root is one of the most commonly used herbs in Chinese herbology

  • Also referred to as “Sweetwood”, “Sweetroot” and the “Great Peacemaker”

  • Closely linked with antibiotic, antiviral and anti-arthritic activity

  • Effective for acting on the bacteria associated with peptic (digestion-related) ulcers

  • Helps rid bacterial toxins in the digestive tract, yet also protects the intestinal walls during the detoxification process

  • Anti-toxic, with regards to providing liver support and protection

  • Softens and soothes body tissues and mucous membranes

  • Provides support for the adrenal glands; is an anti-stress herb

  • Useful for those managing Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels)

  • Effective cough, cold and flu suppressant[i]

I encourage you to give it a try - the aroma alone is appealing!
