Morning Detox Lemonade

Nothing beats a fresh, homemade juice first thing in the morning!

For me, this is a Saturday and Sunday morning ritual, when I have the added time to prep, juice and clean the juicer afterwards! After a long sleep that naturally dehydrates the body, it is critical to restore hydration in a healthful way! Following the consumption of a mason jar of filtered water with fresh lemon and a dash of cayenne, a fresh juice is the follow-up.

Why Juice?

Juicing is a fantastic way to make a nutrient-dense beverage in just minutes! Juicing, unlike blending ingredients together, extracts the fibre, making the invaluable nutrients more bio-available (more readily and easily able to absorb) for the body. In this state, the nutrients the juice contains are absorbed into the bloodstream within seconds. For those who need to be careful about their fibre intake, there is no need to be concerned about fibre in this circumstance.

*Note: It is more preferable to juice organic produce. When juicing conventional produce, you are creating a very concentrated form of any and all pesticides the produce contains.

Key Nutrients:

Cucumber: beta-carotene, manganese, vitamin K

Celery: vitamins A/C/K, potassium, folate

Lemon: vitamin C, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, citric acid

Ingredients (serves 1):

1 cucumber

3 stalks celery

1/2 lemon (approx. 2 tbsp.)


Wash all produce well and chop into pieces of appropriate size for the juicer at hand.

Juice ingredients, stir and enjoy!
